2006 HUPO Officers

President | Kevin Bunker

Prior to attending the GSD, I attended George Washington University, studying international affairs and geography.  After college, I worked for several years as a commercial lobsterman in Midcoast Maine, as well as a part-time planner and grantwriter.  I have a 4 year old daughter, Alex, and plan to work in real estate development upon graduation.  My current interests are always changing, but are all stimulated by the same underlying question:  What is the form that our physical development should take that will allow us to function most efficiently, competitively and sustainably going forward into the future?  If you have the answer in 25 words or less shoot me an email.  In the picture I am shown last January, boning up for the final exam in GSD 6120, Techniques of Physical Planning.

Communications Chair | Adam Meagher

Adam Meagher hails from Dayton, Ohio, the city that gave you the airplane, the self-starting automobile, and the woman who does the voice of Bart Simpson and is also a Scientologist. His pre-GSD incarnations have included: English major at Georgetown University, Peace Corps volunteer in Volgograd, Russia, junior bureaucrat at a large international nonprofit, and (concurrent with previous) Brooklyn hipster. An aspiring writer, Adam's local interests include physical planning, the politics of urban development, and the cultural/social implications of urban space. He also likes dogs and bespoke suits, though he owns neither (yet), and he makes the best grilled cheese sandwich possibly ever.

Events Chair | Leah Murphy

Leah Murphy is a second-year planning student in the Real Estate and Urban Development concentration. She is a Colorado native, but discovered her passion for urban planning issues in Philadelphia, where she attended the University of Pennsylvania, sampling all of the undergraduate majors before settling on a double major in Fine Arts and English Literature. When not slaving away in the studio, Leah enjoys cooking, biking, crossword puzzles, making mix tapes, and traveling.

Originally, I am from Wellesley, MA.  After graduating from Bowdoin
College, in Brunswick, ME, I came directly to the GSD to pursue my
Masters in Urban Planning.  I am interested in real estate development, zoning, and the legal and implementation aspects of planning.  Upon graduation, I plan to attend law school in the Boston Area.

Webmaster | Jesse Mintz-Roth

Hailing from Berkeley, CA, I've come to the GSD to pursue my Masters of Urban Planning after concentrating in Public Policy and Geography at the University of Chicago, conducting research on downtown economic development and cultural policy at Princeton's Woodrow Wilson School, documenting former refugees at New York's Center for Jewish History, and most recently working as a policy analyst in New York City government. I intend to focus in real estate and urban development, and work in affordable housing development after graduation.
