ONGOING PROJECT

Lecture December 2nd

Yellow Arrow is a globally oriented psychogeography mapping project that utilizes the internet and mobile phone technology to engage people with the city. Its creators have asked HUPO to get the GSD involved with through our own branch of the project:

Title:
The B.E.D. Project

Mission:
The B.E.D. Yellow Arrow Project explores the existence of borders, edges, and divides (B.E.D.) in the environments experienced by a group of students at the GSD. The project maps the spaces that are seen as part of dichotomous relationships that are socially, economically, institutionally, or otherwise defined. A continuously evolving map will show how hard and fast the lines between “here” and “there”, “public” and “private” or “us” and “them” are drawn. Participants are encouraged to define these spaces in their own terms as part of creating a rich collective interpretation of the built environment and to carry the project beyond the immediate geographic boundaries of Boston and Cambridge.

Everyone is welcome to participate. Pick up an arrow from the box in the studio on the fourth tray at the north stair or email Carey (cbarker@gsd) for more info. Also visit yellowarrow.net to see this and other projects in action.
