Deane Evans, FAIA
Registered architect and Fellow of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), has been appointed research professor and executive director of the Center for Architecture and Building Science Research at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). Evans, who has had experience in both private practice and the federal government, has dedicated his career to creating innovative ways to improve the built environment - through better design, through the development and use of better technology, and through the creation and dissemination of new knowledge. His current focus is on high performance, sustainable buildings, particularly housing and schools. He has authored two widely used educational guides for architects and their clients: The Affordable Housing Design Advisor (www.designadvisor.org) and The High Performance School Buildings Resource & Strategy Guide. The Sustainable Buildings Industry Council (SBIC) published the school guide. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) sponsored and published the Design Advisor.
